Professionally polishing and sanding of acrylic

Polishing is necessary to neatly finish the edges of acrylic and other plastics and to visibly reduce scratches and unevenness. The best polishing results are achieved when the plastic is sanded in advance (matting).

Polishing and sanding quality from PyraSied

We polish both mechanically and manually. Our diamond polishing mill can horizontally polish up to a maximum thickness of 100 mm up to a length of 3050 mm with a smooth and flat result. When a super high gloss surface is required, we polish the material manually for the best result. Acrylic thicker than 100 mm must always be polished manually. When acrylic is laser-cut, the edges automatically look polished, and this step can be skipped. Are there places that are difficult to reach by machine or manually? Then we recommend having the material laser-cut.

I would like to polish and / or sand your material myself. Do you have tips for me?

We recommend that you always have your material fabricated by someone who has experience with this. PyraSied specializes in polishing and matting/sanding acrylic and other plastics, we are happy to help you with your project.

Would you still like to get started yourself? Then we have a number of tips.

    • Always use a mouth cap and safety glasses
    • Use a polishing paste that is suitable for the chosen material (for example, Novus polishing paste for acrylic)
    • Use a polishing attachment for the drill to polish the edges

Plastic must be sanded first with 800 grit sandpaper and then with a 1500 grit (preferably with sander). After each sanding, it is important to clean the surface with water and to dry with a window wiper. After sanding you put some polishing agent on the fibre cloth and you have to rub shine on the sanded surface until you are satisfied with the result.
