    Polishing and sanding of acrylic

Polishing is necessary to finish the edges of acrylic / plastic neatly and to reduce scratches and unevenness. You will get the best polishing result when the plastic is sanded beforehand. See the instructional video below for further explanation.

We polish both mechanically and manually. Our diamond polishing mill can horizontally go up to 100mm maximum thickness and to a length of 3050 mm. When super high gloss is demanded, we will polish the material manually. Acrylic that is thicker than 100mm must be polished manually. When acrylic is laser cut, the edges are automatically polished and then this step can be skipped.  If mechanically or manually polishing is impossible because it is not accessible, we can also laser-cut instead of sawing and milling.

    Frequently Asked Questions
How do I polish acrylic myself?

Plastic must first be sanded with 800 grain sand paper  and then with a grain of 1500 (preferred with a sanding machine).

After each abrasion it is important to clean the surface with water and to dry the surface with a window wiper. After sanding, you apply some polish to the fiber cloth and you rub the shiny surface until you are satisfied with the result.

Which polish is recommended to use for polishing acrylic?

We recommend using Novus polishing paste. You can purchase this product in our webshop.
