    Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order samples of tubes?

It is possible to order samples of clear, satin or opal tubes. These samples are meant to be able to look at the type of tube and its surface. Since we only sell tubes and rods per full length, we do not have residues. That is why it is not possible to order samples of every diameter and wall thickness.

Can I order cut to size tubes and rods?

Tubes and rods can be ordered per full length, not cut to size. However, we can cut the full length of the tube or rod to your own measurements.

What is the difference between a rod and a tube?

A tube is hollow, a rod is massive.

When do you choose for acrylic and when do you choose for polycarbonate?

Acrylic is optically more pure than polycarbonate. Polycarbonate, on the other hand, is much more impact-resistant than acrylic, but yellows faster.

What is the difference between cast acrylic tubes and extruded acrylic tubes?

Acrylic GS is optically slightly purer than XT tubes, due to the extrusion process with which XT tubes are produced. XT tubes are more cost-effective than GS because of this production process. GS tubes are available in larger diameters and XT tubes are available in smaller diameters.

    XT: Diameters 20-250 mm

    GS: diameters 40-610 mm

Can I also use acrylic tubes for outdoor applications?

Acrylic tubes are reasonably UV stable and weather proof, but are not designed for long term outdoor applications. They will yellow after a while.

Do you also sell acrylic tubes in colour?

Yes, We can make cast acrylic tubes in colour for you from 20 kg.

    Transparante plexiglas buizen XT 6
    Reactor of an acrylic tube

Acrylic tubes are optically very pure and is therefore perfect to be used as a reactor. PyraSied can make reactors cut to size, serially and one-offs.

    LumenUs at Glow ’16

LumenUs is a byTU/e students developed construction that is entirely based on a draw and pressure ratio. The complicated construction consists of rods and steel cables that keep each other in balance. In the artwork the rods are illuminated from the inside. This lighting responds to the impulses of the GLOW audience. Through this interaction with the audience, different colours, through sensors, take over the object slowly.

    Tubes and rods from Pyrasied

PyraSied is having the largest stock of acrylic / Plexiglass tubes and rods in the Benelux. All tubes can be ordered per full length. If desired, we can cut the round and square rods and tubes to size for our customers.

Acrylic / Plexiglass tubes and rods

Acrylic tubes and rods are optically pure. Our transparent tubes are often used in stand- and exhibition building, in the furniture/interior design branche and mostly for technical applications such as reactors.

XT tubes are reasonable UV stable and weather proof, but are not designed for long-term outdoor applications. They will yellow if they are outside for a long period.

A well-known application of these transparent tubes is the water bubble column, the so-named bubble tube. We can glue the tubes water tight or provide the tubes with drilling holes.

Please get in contact with our plastic specialists to receive more information about all the possibilities for fabricating tubes and rods.

    Polycarbonate tubes and rods

Polycarbonate tubes are extremely impact resistant. It is extruded from normal standard granulate and is not provided with a UV-protective layer. Polycarbonate tubes are often used for technical applications because of its impact resistance. It is often used in the lighting industry as a protection around light sources, but also in the process industry. Polycarbonate tubes are optically less pure and less beautiful than acrylic tubes.
