LightPlex® is a light guide plate. That is a sheet that radiates light, it is a light source. The LEDs are placed on one or multiple edges of the sheet, the light runs into the sheet and is reflected from the sheet by the dot pattern. The LightPlex® sheet guarantees the highest light output and gives the evenest lighting of all the LGP technologies that are currently available. The material does not yellow and is particularly durable. LightPlex® is a clear acrylic sheet of the highest quality, in which an optimized pattern is beamed with the very latest laser techniques, according to your dimensions. This innovative technology guarantees the highest light output and a beautiful, evenly distributed appearance.

Important information about ordering light guide plates:

    • Light guide plates are produced customer-specifically. LGP’s can only be ordered through our  Sales & Support department
    • LGPs are supplied without LEDs, aluminium tape and frame. If required, we can supply a suitable plastic reflection sheet.
    • LightPlex® is supplied flat. Single-axis curved sheets are theoretically possible, but we advise to test this application beforehand.
    • A light guide plate is often used with a reflection sheet on the backside and a suitable light diffuser on the front.
      • We recommend using the Makrolon RX White 144  advanced reflector white 1,0 mm for sheets up to 2050×1250 mm. For bigger sheets, you can use the primo XT solid white 084 sheets in 2 mm.

    Delivery possibilities

LightPlex® is always made based on your information. The optimization program for a completely uniform appearance requires the following data:

    • Length and width of the LightPlex® sheet
    • Installation of the LEDs: 1 long side, 1 short side, 2 long sides, 2 short sides etc.
    • Distance between the LEDs on the strip (pitch)

The delivery time for LGPs with the dimensions of 1500x1450mm or smaller can already be delivered within 2 weeks. The delivery time for larger light guide plates is on request. LightPlex® has a glossy surface on both sides. In one side the pattern is beamed with the laser. The beamed side is normally the rear. The non-lasered side is provided with a protective film. It is possible to request a sample of this material. You will receive a complete set of a clear acrylic sheet with beamed dots, a reflection sheet and a light diffuser.

    Stock Light guide plate

LightPlex® can be made up to a size of 3000 x 2000 mm in a thickness of 4 to 15 mm. Panels with LEDs on 2 sides can be placed virtually invisibly next to each other with the sides without LEDs touching each other to create a light path. LGPs are supplied without LEDs, aluminium tape and frame. If required, we can supply a suitable plastic reflection sheet.

PyraSied makes Lightplex customer-specific and can only be ordered via our sales department. The sheets come without LEDs. It is possible to order samples of this material. For more information, you can check the frequently asked questions.

LightPlex® can be used in any application where an energy-efficient, flat light source is desirable such as illuminated walls, floors or ceilings, or integrated into an illuminated desk or bar, columns or steps. In combination with digital print or foils on the PyraLed diffuser sheet, beautiful expressions are made such as signage, art and advertising boards. Lightplex® is also suitable for use in wet areas. The LightPlex® can be walked on, even with a heavy load. As soon as printing or foils is done on the sheet, the light pattern changes. For inspiration, please take a look at our Acrylic Community.

    Frequently Asked Questions
How does a light guide plate work?

With a self-learning computer program are dots beamed into the sheet so that the light sheet emits the light evenly. In short, a self-learning algorithm calculates for each separate measure, also taking into account where the LEDs are placed, the way the dots should be placed for a truly even result. Lightplex® can be made up to a size of 2000x2000 mm in a thickness of 4 to 15 mm thick. Larger light sources with LEDs on two sides can be made by putting Lightplex® sheets with polished end faces against each other. This will not create a noticeable light gap. We advise our customers to test in advance whether this gives the desired quality.

Can I also order LGPs in other sizes?

Yes, please get into contact with our sales department for this. E-mail: sales@pyrasied.nl

Are the LEDs included by the light guide plate?

No. The sheets come without LEDs.

    What is acrylic/Plexiglass®?

Acrylic (pmma) is the plastic that is also known as Plexiglass®. Our own brand of acrylic is called Versato®. Acrylic is in the basis 100% colourless, light weight, rigid, practically unbreakable, easy to fabricate and is therefore better than glass in some respects. Acrylic is weather proof, UV stable and does not yellow.

What is the difference between cast acrylic and extruded acrylic?

There are two main types of acrylic, cast (GS) and extruded (XT) acrylic. An advantage of cast acrylic is that it is easy to produce in small quantities, which offers flexibility. Extruded acrylic has the advantage that it hardly knows any thickness tolerance.
