Lightplex®, also known as Luxxplex®, is called a light guide plate (LGP). This is a sheet that emits and guides the light and is a light source. LEDs are placed on the edges of the sheet and the light runs through the entire sheet and is guided through a dotted pattern that is beamed into the sheet.
The Lightplex® sheet guarantees the highest light output and the most perfect evenness of all LGP-techniques that exists. The material does not yellow and is extremely durable. Because the sheet is perfectly clear, the colour that the sheet emits is exactly the same colour as of the incoming LEDs. This makes it very suitable for RGB-LEDs. The material is made of cast acrylic and thus has a thickness tolerance.
With a self-learning computer program are dots beamed into the sheet so that the light sheet emits the light evenly. In short, a self-learning algorithm calculates for each separate measure, also taking into account where the LEDs are placed, the way the dots should be placed for a truly even result. Lightplex® can be made up to a size of 2000×2000 mm in a thickness of 4 to 15 mm thick. Larger light sources with LEDs on two sides can be made by putting Lightplex® sheets with polished end faces against each other. This will not create a noticeable light gap. We advise our customers to test in advance whether this gives the desired quality.
PyraSied makes Lightplex customer-specific and can only be ordered via our sales department. The delivery time of this material is normally 4-8 working days. The sheets come without LEDs.
It is possible to order samples of this material. For more information, you can check the frequently asked questions.
A light guide plate is often used with a reflection plate on the backside and a suitable diffuser on the front. Thus, light paths of unlimited length can be made.

No. The sheets come without LEDs.
Acrylic (pmma) is the plastic that is also known as Plexiglass®. Our own brand of acrylic is called Versato®. Acrylic is in the basis 100% colourless, light weight, rigid, practically unbreakable, easy to fabricate and is therefore better than glass in some respects. Acrylic is weather proof, UV stable and does not yellow.
There are two main types of acrylic, cast (GS) and extruded (XT) acrylic. An advantage of cast acrylic is that it is easy to produce in small quantities, which offers flexibility. Extruded acrylic has the advantage that it hardly knows any thickness tolerance.
