The PyraLed® Makrolon Adlight N148 satin/gloss diffuser in 3mm thickness is an efficient diffuser that gives excellent diffusivity and a good level of light transmission. The high diffusivity spreads the light on a small distance from the light source diffuse and evenly, while still keeping a lot of the light. It is produced with UV protection, allowing you to use the diffuser safely outside.
The PyraLed® Makrolon Adlight N148 3mm has a one-sided satin surface and a one-sided gloss surface. The diffuser is 3mm thick and has a light transmission of 49%. Light transmission refers to the amount of light that comes through the diffuser. It is measured on the other side of the light diffuser than where the light source is positioned. The diffusivity, a score that refers to how well the light is scattered, is 0.92. That gives the PyraLed® Makrolon Adlight N148 3mm a distance factor of 1.1. This means that the distance between the diffuser and the leds needs to be 1.1 times larger than the distance between the led strips or led button cells themselves to get a nice and diffuse light result.
The PyraLed® Makrolon Adlight N148 diffuser is part of our collection with advanced diffusers. These diffusers are developed with the goal of reaching the highest possible quality. This can be seen on how they score on the variable ‘efficiency’. This is measured by multiplying the light transmission with the diffusivity. The light transmission is a measurement of the amount of light transmitted. The diffusivity refers to to how well a diffuser scatters the light. A diffuser that has a higher score on the variable ‘efficiency’ performs better. An efficient diffuser is more expensive to purchase, but earns itself back by saving energy of increasing the light output.
The PyraLed® Makrolon Adlight N148 is made from polycarbonate. This is an extrusion product. Light diffusers made from polycarbonate have a few important benefits in comparison with acrylic. Polycarbonate is very impact resistant, making it well suited for applications where the material has to be vandal-proof, burglary proof or extra safe. Because polycarbonate is an extrusion product, the thickness tolerance of the material is minimal.
Polycarbonate has a good fire classification, bs1d0 according to the European classification EN13501. Because of this high classification, the material may be used in public spaces.
Polycarbonate is not UV stable in itself. But most of the polycarbonate diffusers in our assortment are developed with a UV protective layer, allowing safe use outside. Please check if the chosen diffuser has UV protection when you plan to use the diffuser outside.
The PyraLed® Makrolon Adlight N148 in 3mm thickness is in stock in sheet size 3050mm x 2050mm. If you need a smaller size for your application, we gladly offer material cut to size.
The PyraLed® Makrolon Adlight N148 satin/gloss is also available in the same sheetsize in 4mm thickness.
The PyraLed® Makrolon Adlight N148 3mm is a diffuser with good light transmission and very high diffusivity. If you’re searching a very efficient diffuser that can be placed close ot the light source while transmitting a lot of the light, this diffuser is a good choice. And with the minimum amount of thickness tolerance and the impact resistance of polycarbonate, this diffuser can be used in many circumstances. You can use the PyraLed® Makrolon Adlight N148 3mm for light fixtures, profiles, signing and displays. Barfronts, signing and other esthetic applications are also possible.
Due to the good fire classification of polycarbonate, this diffuser may be used in public spaces. And the Makrolon Adlight N148 has UV protection, allowing you to use the diffuser inside and outside without risk.
Are you looking for a diffuser from the advanced collection with a higher light transmission? Then the PyraLed® Makrolon DX NR139 3mm or the PyraLed® Makrolon DX NR141 3mm are excellent alternatives. The NR 139 is better suited for cold, white light (high Kelvin value). The NR 141 is better suited for warm, yellow to red light (low Kelvin value).
For constructive applications like floors, walls and full bars and desks, we recommend a thicker diffuser, like our PyraLed®3 10mm or the PyraLed® OPY3 satin/satin 10mm. These diffusers are made from cast acrylic. Diffusers with these thicknesses are not available in polycarbonate.
