Our PyraLed® OPY2 and OPY3 light diffusers have the best light technical properties within our collection of diffusers of cast acrylic. The PyraLed® OPY2 gloss/gloss 10mm is developed to offer the best possible light transmission while still spreading the light diffuse on a relatively short distance from the light source.
The PyraLed® OPY2 10mm has a two-sided gloss surface, is 10mm thick and has a light transmission of 81%. Light transmission refers to the amount of light that comes through the diffuser. It is measured on the other side of the light diffuser than where the light source is positioned.
The PyraLed® OPY2 diffuser is part of our collection with advanced diffusers. These diffusers are developed with the goal of reaching the highest possible quality. This can be seen on how they score on the variable ‘efficiency’. This is measured by multiplying the light transmission with the diffusivity. The light transmission is a measurement of the amount of light transmitted. The diffusivity refers to to how well a diffuser scatters the light. A diffuser that has a higher score on the variable ‘efficiency’ performs better. An efficient diffuser is more expensive to purchase, but earns itself back by saving energy or increasing the light output.
The PyraLed® OPY2 is made from cast acrylic. Light diffusers from cast acrylic have the best light technical properties and are optically clear, UV-stable and colourfast. Because of this, the diffusers can be used inside and outside and the colour will not be influenced by the sun. The fire classification of cast acrylic is E according to fire norm EN 13501. This is the European (EU) classification.
Cast acrylic can be produced in smaller batches relatively easy. This allows us to offer the broadest collection of thicknesses and types in cast acrylic.
The PyraLed® OPY2 with two-sided gloss surface in 10mm thickness is in stock in sheet size 3050mm x 2030mm. If you need a smaller size for your application, we gladly offer material cut to size.
If you want to lose as little as light as possible after applying a diffuser, the PyraLed® OPY2 is an excellent choice. And since cast acrylic has the best light technical properties of all light diffusers, you can apply the PyraLed® OPY2 in many situations. You can apply the 10mm thick version of the PyraLed® OPY2 with two-sided gloss surface for barfronts, signage, decors, displays and other esthetic applications. Because the thickness of the sheet, you can use the diffuser for constructive applications like floors, walls and full desks and bars. And since cast acrylic is UV stable and the colour is not affected by sunlight, you can safely apply it inside and outside.
Do you want to place the diffuser close to the light source? Then the PyraLed®3 10mm or PyraLed® OPY3 satin/satin 10mm is the better option. These two diffusers score better on the variable diffusivity. This results in a better scattering of the light when the diffuser is placed close to the light source.
Cast acrylic has thickness tolerance, making it less suitable for the use in light fixtures and profiles. Extruded acrylic (XT) has minimum thickness tolerance, making it a perfect match for these applications. The PyraLed® YT275 matte/gloss is an excellent alternative in XT, offering a light transmission of 81%.

Diffusers made from cast acrylic contain less tension than diffusers from extruded acrylic. The PyraLed® OPY2 is made from cast acrylic and can be fabricated easily.
PyraSied has more than 30 years of experience in fabricating acrylic and other plastics. With our excellently equipped workshop – where high-tech machinery and traditional craftsmanship ensure high quality – we can supply diffusers made to size. Whether you are looking for a partner for a one-time project or a trustworthy partner for the continious supply of diffusers as part of your supply chain, PyraSied is the right choice.
You can fabricate acrylic yourself, often with the same tools used for wood fabricating. Fabrication options for the PyraLed® OPY2 diffuser are lasering, sawing, milling, bonding, drilling, faceting, polishing, sanding and printing.
