The Satinglas 61000 clear satin/satin 10mm light diffuser is a clear diffuser sheet that offers high light transmission. They do not contain any opal pigment, but the two-sided satin surface creates some diffusivity. The Satinglas 61000 satin/satin 10mm has a two-sided satin surface. The diffuser is 10mm thick and has a light transmission of 88%. Light transmission refers to the amount of light that comes through the diffuser. It is measured on the other side of the light diffuser than where the light source is positioned.
Standard diffuser
The Satinglas 61000 diffusers are part of our collection with standard diffusers. These diffusers are the classic, 30% light transmission (opal) sheets and fit well with classic light sources and situations with plenty of space between diffuser and light source. They are good diffusers in relationship to their price. Do you need a diffuser that is more efficient and keeps more of the light, please check our professional and advanced light diffusers. These professional and advanced diffusers are more efficient than the standard (opal) sheets. Efficiency refers to how well a diffuser performs. It is a measurement that combines the light transmission and the diffusivity. An efficient diffuser costs more to purchase but earns itself back by saving energy and increasing the light output.
Material characteristics
The Satinglas 61000 is made from cast acrylic. Light diffusers from cast acrylic have the best light technical properties and are optically clear, UV-stable and colourfast. Because of this, the diffusers can be used inside and outside and the colour will not be influenced by the sun. The fire classification of cast acrylic is E according to fire norm EN 13501. This is the European (EU) classification. Cast acrylic can be produced in smaller batches relatively easy. This allows us to offer the broadest collection of thicknesses and types in cast acrylic.
We have Greencast® Satin (Satinglas 61000) in stock in 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 15 and 20mm thick. You can order all thicknesses here. The maximum sheet size depends on the thickness of the material.
If you are looking for maximum light transmission in a diffuser and if you have enough space available between the light source and diffuser, the Satinglas 61000 is an excellent choice. And since cast acrylic has the best light technical properties of all light diffusers, you can apply the 3mm version of the Satinglas 51000 in many situations. You can apply the Satinglas 51000 with a two-sided satin surface for bar fronts, signage, decors, displays and other esthetic applications. Because cast acrylic is UV stable and the colour is not affected by sunlight, you can safely apply it inside and outside. For constructive applications, like floors, walls and full bars- and desks, we advise using at least 10mm thick sheets.
Are you looking for a standard opal sheet that offers more diffusivity? Then the Satinglas 61100 satin/satin 3mm is a great choice. This diffuser offers a higher level of diffusivity with a lower level of light transmission. The higher diffusivity allows for less distance between diffuser and light source, while still creating an even and well-diffused light result.
Cast acrylic has thickness tolerance, making it less suitable for the use in light fixtures and profiles. Extruded acrylic (XT) has minimum thickness tolerance, making it a perfect match for these applications. A higher level of diffusivity is also necessary, given the lower distance between light source and diffuser in a light fixture. The PRIMO® XT N385 3mm with a light transmission of 29% and diffusivity of 0.88 has a low distance factor and is well suited for light fixtures.
