Acrylic is a special and beautiful material and we want to show our beautiful collection of transparent acrylic sheets GS (PLEXIGLAS®) to you and the world! Acrylics are known for their simplicity as clear acrylic sheets that are optically pure. The beauty in this material is the transparency and this is always visible in the applications. The material is beautiful in combination with light, because it catches the light, guides the light and is also playing with light. Light brings acrylic to life and that is why we love it! In addition to the aesthetic perception of acrylic, it also has good material properties which makes it suitable for a lot of different applications. Acrylic is optically pure, UV-resistant, easy to fabricate and is extremely durable with long colour fastness and lifespan.
Environmentally friendly acrylic – Greencast® 100% recycled clear acrylic
We offer more and more types of our cast acrylic in Greencast®. This cast acrylic (PLEXIGLAS® / pmma) is made from 100% recycled pre- and post-consumer acrylic. It has the same excellent properties as standard cast acrylic. It is also just as clear and indistinguishable from standard cast acrylic.
All sizes from 3 mm thickness are now in stock in Greencast® clear acrylic. A more sustainable and economical alternative without compromising on quality. In addition to clear acrylic, we also have black, white, opal and various transparent colours in stock in recycled acrylic.
Cast acrylic (GS)
A benefit of transparent acrylic sheets GS is that it is easy to produce in small quantities which offers a lot of flexibility. That is why PyraSied is having cast acrylic sheets in diverse diameters, colours, surface structures and design variations in stock.
PyraSied has also transparent acrylic sheets on stock with special surface characteristics:
Clear acrylic sheets are on stock in GS and XT in thicknesses varying from 1,5mm up to 20mm. You can order clear acrylic cut to size (for free) via our webshop. Clear acrylic sheets can be ordered (cut to size) via our webshop with a gloss, satin or matte surface. We also have thicker acrylic on stock, we call this an acrylic block. Acrylic block is on stock up to 100mm.
Maximum sheet size
15-20 mm: 3000x2000mm
Other sheet sizes and thicknesses are possible. Contact us for more information.
Clear acrylic is often used as front windows, temporary glazing and interior glazing, showcases, shield sheets, furniture, wall presentations or as decorative sheet material. Please take a look at our Acrylic Community for some examples.
Acrylic is very easy to fabricate. Fabrication possibilities: cutting, milling, laser-cutting, oven bending, bonding, drilling, faceting, polishing, sanding and printing. Do you want more information about how to fabricate acrylic yourself? Take a look at our acrylic fabrications page. Here you can find tips and tricks about the fabrication possibilities of acrylic.
These fabrications can be performed by PyraSied if desired. We deliver from our excellently equipped workshop – where high-tech machinery and traditional craftsmanship ensure optimum results, completely tailored to your drawing or design.
Well-known brand names for acrylic are PLEXIGLAS®, Perspex®, Altuglas®, Astariglas®, and Versato®.

Cast acrylic (abbreviation GS) can be produced in small quantities. This means that the production process is very flexible and therefore more is possible. This means more different colours, more thicknesses and also more surface structures. GS acrylic can easily be made in your own corporate identity colour with a small minimum order quantity.
PyraSied has acrylic in stock in cast (GS) and extruded (XT) acrylic. Cast acrylic can easily be produced in small quantities, which offers flexibility. That is why we have cast acrylics in various thicknesses, colours, surface structures and design variants in stock.
Extruded acrylic (the abbreviation for this is XT) is made with a fully continuous extrusion process. This means that production takes place in larger volumes. This makes a difference in price and is, therefore, cheaper than GS. Because of the fully continuous extrusion process, you have less flexibility.
The biggest advantage of XT is that it hardly has a thickness tolerance. For applications where the material is in a profile or a flat surface is required, we always recommend using XT acrylic.
PLEXIGLAS® and acrylic are the same. PLEXIGLAS® is the brand name of the transparent plastic acrylic, just like Perspex. In the Netherlands, Plexiglas is so familiar that it became a product name.
Acrylic has a very high light transmission and with 92% this is much higher than glass. In addition, it is 25 times stronger than glass and only half as heavy. Acrylic is also easy to work with and will not shatter, which glass does. It is also very durable, it is resistant to all kinds of weather conditions and usually light and UV resistant.
An advantage of glass over acrylic is the scratch resistance. The acrylic surface is softer and therefore scratches faster. With proper care, however, this can easily be minimized/repaired, while a scratch in glass can no longer be removed.
Yes, acrylic is very easy to machine. You can saw acrylic, but you can also mill and even laser-cut it. Other possibilities: bending, bonding, drilling, faceting, polishing, sanding, and printing.
PyraSied can perform these fabrications if you wish. We deliver from our well-equipped workshop - where a high-tech machine park and traditional craftsmanship ensure optimum results, completely tailored to your drawing or design.
Do you want to fabricate acrylic yourself? Then view our site under 'fabrications'. There you will find more information about fabricating acrylic.
Acrylic is very easy to maintain with the use of a soft microfibre cloth and a mild household cleaner. The use of brushes, sponges and abrasive cleaning agents is not recommended, as this can cause tiny scratches. Accumulation of these types of scratches ultimately gives a dull result. However, this can be remedied by polishing the scratched surface. It is also possible to fill in light scratches with our VuPlex plastic cleaner, for example. For more information see our cleaning instructions.
Acrylic is optically more pure than polycarbonate. Polycarbonate, on the other hand, is much more impact-resistant than acrylic, but yellows faster.
