The transparent cast acrylic sheets from PyraSied are in stock in various thicknesses (1mm – 90mm), colours and surface structures. Acrylic, also known as Plexiglas, is a particularly beautiful material, which is why we have many different variants standard in stock. What is so special about ‘standard’ clear acrylic? The beauty is precisely in that clarity because it is much clearer than glass. Acrylic has a very high light transmission of 92%, it is an optically pure material. This purity is always reflected in the applications. In addition, acrylic is 25 times stronger than glass and is also easier to work with. This material is beautiful in combination with (natural) light, it catches the light, guides the light, and plays with the light. In short, light makes acrylic come alive. This unique plastic is particularly durable, as it has a very long colorfastness and lifespan. When used properly, acrylic will remain beautiful for many years!
PyraSied is an acrylic specialist with the most extensive stock of acrylic sheets, tubes, and rods in Europe. Transparent cast acrylic can be ordered in different variants such as clear, UV-permeable (suitable for tanning beds), transparent coloured acrylic, translucent coloured acrylic, extra-thick acrylic (up to 100mm thick), and extra thin acrylic (from 0.5mm thick).
Environmentally friendly acrylic
Greencast® acrylic is a cast material made from 100% recycled pre-and post-consumer acrylic. It has the same excellent properties as standard cast acrylic. It is also just as clear and indistinguishable from normal cast acrylic. Greencast® is in stock in clear, black, white, satin, opal, transparent colours, translucent colours, metallic and mother-of-pearl. A more sustainable and cheaper alternative without compromising on quality.
When do you choose cast acrylic (GS)?
The abbreviation “GS” is known in the plastics industry and stands for “cast”. This refers to the production method of this type of acrylic. PyraSied has acrylic in stock in cast (GS) and extruded (XT) acrylic. An advantage of GS is that it is easy to produce in small quantities, which offers flexibility. That is why we have cast acrylic in various thicknesses, colours, surface structures and design variants in stock. In addition, the technical properties of cast acrylic are slightly better than XT, making it easier to fabricate.
We have GS acrylic sheets in stock in thicknesses from 1mm to 90mm. This can be ordered cut-to-size via our webshop. The maximum sheet size depends on the chosen thickness. Different sizes can be found at the top of the page. Are you looking for thicker acrylic? Then choose clear acrylic block. This material is available up to 90mm thick. Are you looking for thinner acrylic? Then you can opt for Hesaglas® precision acrylic. Other sheet sizes and thicknesses are available on request with a minimum order quantity.
Clear acrylic is often used as front windows, temporary glazing and interior glazing, showcases, shield sheets, furniture, wall presentations or as decorative sheet material. See our reference projects for examples of applications with our material.
Acrylic is very easy to fabricate. The fabrication possibilities are: cutting, milling, laser-cutting, oven bending, bonding, drilling, faceting, polishing, sanding and printing. Do you want more information about how to fabricate acrylic yourself? Take a look at our fabrications page. Here you can find tips and tricks about the fabrication possibilities of acrylic. These fabrications can be performed by PyraSied if desired. We deliver from our excellently equipped workshop – where high-tech machinery and traditional craftsmanship ensure optimum results, completely tailored to your drawing or design.
The transparent plastic acrylic is known under various well-known brand names such as PLEXIGLAS® and Perspex®. At PyraSied you can recognize this plastic by the following brand names: Astariglas®, Primo®, Versato®, SetaLetter®, Setacryl®, and Satinglas®.
Primo® and Versato® are PyraSied’s own brand names for extruded (Primo) or cast (Versato) acrylic.

Cast acrylic (abbreviation GS) can be produced in small quantities. This means that the production process is very flexible and therefore more is possible. This means more different colours, more thicknesses and also more surface structures. GS acrylic can easily be made in your own corporate identity colour with a small minimum order quantity.
PyraSied has acrylic in stock in cast (GS) and extruded (XT) acrylic. Cast acrylic can easily be produced in small quantities, which offers flexibility. That is why we have cast acrylics in various thicknesses, colours, surface structures and design variants in stock.
Extruded acrylic (the abbreviation for this is XT) is made with a fully continuous extrusion process. This means that production takes place in larger volumes. This makes a difference in price and is, therefore, cheaper than GS. Because of the fully continuous extrusion process, you have less flexibility.
The biggest advantage of XT is that it hardly has a thickness tolerance. For applications where the material is in a profile or a flat surface is required, we always recommend using XT acrylic.
PLEXIGLAS® and acrylic are the same. PLEXIGLAS® is the brand name of the transparent plastic acrylic, just like Perspex. In the Netherlands, Plexiglas is so familiar that it became a product name.
Acrylic has a very high light transmission and with 92% this is much higher than glass. In addition, it is 25 times stronger than glass and only half as heavy. Acrylic is also easy to work with and will not shatter, which glass does. It is also very durable, it is resistant to all kinds of weather conditions and usually light and UV resistant.
An advantage of glass over acrylic is the scratch resistance. The acrylic surface is softer and therefore scratches faster. With proper care, however, this can easily be minimized/repaired, while a scratch in glass can no longer be removed.
Yes, acrylic is very easy to machine. You can saw acrylic, but you can also mill and even laser-cut it. Other possibilities: bending, bonding, drilling, faceting, polishing, sanding, and printing.
PyraSied can perform these fabrications if you wish. We deliver from our well-equipped workshop - where a high-tech machine park and traditional craftsmanship ensure optimum results, completely tailored to your drawing or design.
Do you want to fabricate acrylic yourself? Then view our site under 'fabrications'. There you will find more information about fabricating acrylic.
Acrylic is very easy to maintain with the use of a soft microfibre cloth and a mild household cleaner. The use of brushes, sponges and abrasive cleaning agents is not recommended, as this can cause tiny scratches. Accumulation of these types of scratches ultimately gives a dull result. However, this can be remedied by polishing the scratched surface. It is also possible to fill in light scratches with our VuPlex plastic cleaner, for example. For more information see our cleaning instructions.
Acrylic is optically more pure than polycarbonate. Polycarbonate, on the other hand, is much more impact-resistant than acrylic, but yellows faster.
